AUGUST 2026 - WEBINAR

NOTE: Registrations close 5pm the day before (Tuesday 18th Aug)
Course Name: Understanding Neurodegenerative Conditions: Practical Considerations for Massage Therapists with Gemma and John Eves
Date: Wednesday 19th August starting at 7:30pm AEST
Relevance: All Members
Description: Neurodegenerative conditions, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, dementia and others, involve the gradual loss of nerve cell structure and function in the brain or spinal cord. They are progressive, vary enormously between people and from day to day, and are rising quickly as the population ages. Massage therapists meet these clients across clinic, mobile, in-home, aged-care and palliative settings, yet general massage training rarely prepares practitioners to adapt safely for them.
This webinar gives qualified massage therapists a practical, evidence-informed foundation for working with neurodegenerative conditions, and a single adaptation framework they can apply across diagnoses. We begin with the scale of these conditions and a clear definition, then map the landscape, distinguishing movement-led conditions (Parkinson's, MS, MND) from cognition-led conditions (dementia), and both from acquired conditions such as stroke and brain injury, which are neurological but not neurodegenerative.
Cost: MAA Members - Free (using discount code) and Non-members - $50
