Our Vision & Mission 
 
To advance and promote the Massage and Manual Therapies Profession. 

The aims of the MAA are:  

  • Advancing the science and art of massage and related techniques
  • Raising and maintaining the standards of the Massage and Manual Therapies Profession
  • Fostering a spirit of cooperation and the exchange of ideas and techniques
  • Encouraging and supporting cultural safety, responsive practice, equality and inclusivity
  • Protecting and preserving the rights of its members
  • Enhancing the public’s understanding and appreciation of the Massage and Manual Therapies Profession
  • Advocating the rights and interests of persons seeking massage therapy and related modalities as health care.

Where we came from:

In the early 1980’s the massage profession in Victoria was a rather small and intimate group of practitioners. Inevitably several associations were formed each one concerned with promoting and maintaining their particular method. Almost inevitably again the urge to "grow" was being felt and certain mergers took place. It was one of those mergers which triggered off the founding of the MAA Ltd.
